At Dauntless Performance Horses, it doesn’t matter where you came from; it only matters where you are going. Over the years, Chelsea has worked with some incredible animals, and we hope you enjoy learning about them.
DAUNTLESS COURAGE
Dauntless Courage was purchased at 6 months old by Asbury college as a potential police horse. He was born on a PMU breeding farm in Canada. What is a P.M.U. Horse?
Premarin is a very common drug prescribed to millions of women worldwide as a hormone replacement therapy. The name stands for Pregnant Mares Urine, as the drug is produced from the hormones present in the mare’s urine. The horses used to produce this drug are referred to as “PMU” horses, for short.
DAUNTLESS SERENDIPITY
Meet Dauntless Serendipity – my first horse. Roxy is a 2003 Tennessee Walking horse that I got when she was just 10 months old and I was 7 years old. Before we bought them, Roxy and her sister were badly beaten; after bringing them home, it took months of hard work just to be able to handle them safely. In her younger days, Roxy loved to jump and still loves learning new tricks like tearing on command. Now a days, she happily helps me start each of my young horses and always has my back by keeping the young ones in line when we are working with them!
DAUNTLESS MESABI
Dauntless Mesabi is a 2004 Hanoverian gelding that had a very successful dressage career and has schooled up to the Grand Prix level. “Liam” came to me 2 years ago when a friend called me and told me that he had struggled with soundness issues and need a home ASAP because his current owners did not have the space for him.
DAUNTLESS DUO
While driving home one day from the Kentucky Horse Park, my roommate Tori Tedesco asked me what my dream horse was. I without hesitation replied, “a black one!”. After a few moments of silence, she said “wait a minute, I know the perfect one!”. Tori previously worked at Darby Dan managing one of the weanling barns. This barn is where she met baby “Bryzzo”!
DAUNTLESS ALLIANCE
Dauntless Alliance came to me as a 3 year who had a reputation for being a bit rowdy. The first few months with “Al” were spent clearing up the rain rot he had from head to toe and putting weight on him. Next, we slowly addressed his behavioral issues which consisted of bolting under saddle and charging other horses in hand and under saddle. Once I addressed and worked through those issues, I got to see just how special of a horse he was! We began increasing his work load each day to sculpt him into a classy competitor. After a bit, I took him to a couple schooling shows and realized that he was just my type… so I kept him! The gap in his show record is due to him being pretty accident prone in the paddock but 2020-2021 is his year. Al has been putting in great work and I can’t wait to get back out to the show ring with him! Keep your eye out for him, he’s a special guy.
DAUNTLESS AUTHORITY
Dauntless Authority came into my life on the backside of Keeneland Race Track just a couple days after his last race. On our “Gotcha Day”, “Gator” was pretty lame or “track sore” which is basically when horses come down off the track and experience body and feet soreness which results from going from working every day to just standing in a stall. Nothing major, just some soreness.
DAUNTLESS BY DESIGN
Dauntless Authority came into my life on the backside of Keeneland Race Track just a couple days after his last rDauntless By Design is a 2016 mare that I have had since she was only 4 months old. It was one of those random moments, where I was driving down a country back road, and saw her in the pasture. I knew I had to have her. I arranged to buy her, in exchange for halter breaking 2 other nurse mare foals. As “Luna” had been out in a field with other horses, a nurse mare foal, and had never been touched. Once the old owner and I had come to an agreement we wrangled Luna and the two other foals (Sassy and Chip) into my trailer, and I took them to my parents’ place to start their first 30 days with me.
DAUNTLESS INTEGRITY
“Titan” is a 2012, double registered Kentucky bred American paint horse. I got Titan when he was 11 months old from his breeder in Burlington KY. Titan has been a pleasure to work with as is often referred to as the barn secretary. He has fondly acquired that name because of his secretary like relationship with Dante. They are attached at the hip yet Dante always seems to dictate the actions made by Titan seemingly being in charge of his every move.
A horse doesn’t know what he can’t do until you show him.
